Fear in "In a Child's Name" scene
This clip shown in class shows a scene where they are looking over the crime scene as they had just sprayed luminol all over the house to check the any traces of blood.
Fear was shown immediately after the detective told the couple to leave because he knew something was about to be shown that was too much for them to see. A lot of movies will portray fear in this sense, they will show characters acting distraught, which foreshadows something might happen soon. As soon, as the couple left, they closed all the blinds and the luminol showed brightly on the detective's face. Immediately, the dark room gives an eerie feeling to audience, so they get prepared for what is coming next.
As they show the luminol shining bright with all the blood trail, the music changed drastically to harsh texture at an accelerating speed. Although, the scene itself wasn't scary compared to movies of today with all the jump scares. The music caused the feeling of fear to arise in me. Then came the visuals, as the detectives face lit up, it showed all the traces of blood left behind going up the stairs. Similarly, later on the couple came back with the kid to sleep in the house and as they were going to sleep the lights turned off and the whole room lit up with luminol. The camera angles showing all the luminol on the walls and near the baby's bed, then it zooms out showing all of it together. The movie did a good job with the camera angles and portraying how insane the crime was.
