Fear of the unknown

In this world and universe there are many things that we will never get to discover.  According to National Geographic more than 80 percent of the oceans have not been explored. With the universe it is harder to know because that is very beyond our reach, and we don't exactly know where it ends. It is a scary thought sometimes because we are so tiny compared to the universe and there are many things greater than us happening or existing.

The universe is very vast, and we don't know much about it because our technology is not that advanced yet. There is so much out there still needed to be discovered, and it is hard to think that there is no possibility of other life out there. Billions of other planets are out there, and they might be able to sustain life. When I was younger, I wanted to be an astronomer and learning about the many astronomical phenomena like black holes freaked me out. All these powerful forces outside of earth are everywhere.

Sometimes when I'm on a boat and am far out into the ocean I can't help but wonder what could be down there. The ocean is the thing we are able to best explore because it is best reachable, yet it still remains one of least understood places. Even then we have not seen even a fifth of it. Who knows what can be lurking at the bottom at the ocean.  Adding on, there are also many stories passed on about mysterious shipwrecks or people disappearing, which cause curiosity and fear. Perhaps some things were just not meant to be discovered in this universe.

What do you think of the unknown?
